ABSTRACT
This study investigated how COVID-19 imparted the fashion expenditure of households in Korea. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the ratio of fashion expenditure to household income and the ratio of fashion expenditure to household consumption expenditure were estimated using secondary data of national statistics. The household income and expenditure data in Korea were extracted from 2018 to 2021. The household was categorized by generations such as gen Z, gen M, gen X, Baby Boomer, and Silent generation, and the household income status was identified by the income quintile. The outcome revealed that the ratio of fashion usage expenditure to income decreased following COVID-19 equated to before COVID-19 and revealed the significant differences by income quintile. The ratio of fashion consumption to household expenditure significantly differed between the pre-COVID-19 and the post-COVID-19. The difference in the ratio of fashion consumption to household expenditure was important by generations, and it was not affirmed by the income quintile.

KJSES 26(1) 17-32, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.17 |
ABSTRACT
This study aims to study the impact of pet attachment on subjective well-being, focusing on individuals who live with pets. In addition, it is to recognize that their basic psychological requirement mediates between pet attachment and subjective well-being. For this purpose, a survey was performed on 358 adults living with pets nationwide. The final data of 319 people were evaluated after excluding invalid information. Dependent on the theoretical approach of the attachment theory, the human-pet relationship was examined by dividing it into two orthogonal dimensions pet attachment prevention and pet attachment anxiety(Zilcha-Mano et al., 2011). The mediating effects were investigated as an in-depth mechanism that mediates between pet attachment and subjective well-being, the mediating effects were examined, in terms of the three basic psychological needs of Self-Determination Theory, which are autonomy, competence, and relatedness. As an outcome, first, pet attachment prevention and pet attachment anxiety both revealed a negative correlation with subjective well-being. Second, basic psychological needs, which are autonomy, competence, and relatedness, are mediated between pet attachment and subjective well-being. Autonomy, competence, and relatedness fully mediated the relationship between pet attachment avoidance and subjective well-being. Meanwhile, in the case of pet attachment anxiety, only autonomy among basic psychological needs is fully mediated between pet attachment anxiety and subjective well-being in the case of pet attachment avoidance. This means that pet attachment prevention or pet attachment anxiety correlates with subjective well-being by satisfying basic psychological needs instead of directly affecting personal well-being. Regarding the pet effect, it is meaningful to find an in-depth mechanism that the human-pet relationship has for an adaptive and positive impact on humans.

KJSES 26(1) 33-42, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.33 |
ABSTRACT
Previous emotion studies employing facial expressions have focused on the differences between age groups for each of the emotion categories. Instead, Kim (2021) has compared representations of facial expressions in the lower-dimensional emotion space. However, he reported descriptive comparisons without statistical significance testing. This research used representational similarity analysis (Kriegeskorte et al., 2008) to directly compare empirical datasets from young, middle-aged, and old groups and conceptual models. In addition, individual differences multidimensional scaling (Carroll & Chang, 1970) was conducted to explore individual weights on the emotional dimensions for each age group. The results revealed that the old group was the least similar to the other age groups in the empirical datasets and the valence model. In addition, the arousal dimension was the least weighted for the old group compared to the other groups. This study directly tested the differences between the three age groups in terms of empirical datasets, conceptual models, and weights on the emotion dimensions.

KJSES 26(1) 43-54, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.43 |
ABSTRACT
In this study, we assessed how participants represent various sensory stimuli experiences through behavioral ratings and physiological measurements. Utilizing intersubject correlation (ISC) analysis, we evaluated whether individuals' affective responses of dominance, arousal, and valence differed when stimuli of three modality conditions (auditory, visual, and haptic) were presented. ISC analyses were used to measure the similarities between one participant's responses and those of the others. To calculate the intersubject correlation, we divided the entire dataset into one subject and all other subject datasets and then correlated the two for all possible stimulus pair combinations. The results revealed that for dominance, ISCs of the visual modality condition were greater than the auditory modality condition, whereas, for arousal, the auditory condition was greater than the visual modality. Last, negative valence conditions had the greater consistency of the participants' reactions than positive conditions in each of the sensory modalities. When comparing modalities, greater ISCs were observed in haptic modality conditions than in visual and auditory modality conditions, regardless of the affective categories. We discussed three core affective representations of multiple modalities and proposed ISC analysis as a tool for examining differences in individuals` affective representations.

KJSES 26(1) 55-64, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.55 |
ABSTRACT
This research investigated category-based feature inference when category features were connected in common cause and common effect causal networks. Previous studies that tested feature inference in causal categories showed unique inference patterns depending on causal direction, number of related features, whether the to-be-inferred feature was cause or effect, etc. However, these prior studies primarily focused on inference pattens that arise from causal relations, and few studies directly explored how the effects of causal relations vary depending on causal strength. We tested feature inference in common cause (Expt. 1) and common effect (Expt. 2) causal categories when casual strengths were either strong or weak. To this end, we had participants learn causal categories where features were causally linked and then perform feature inference task. The results showed that causal strengths as well as causal relations had important impacts on feature inference. When causal strength was strong, inference for common cause feature became weaker but that for the common effect feature became stronger. Moreover, when causal strength was strong and common cause was present, inference for the effect features became stronger, whereas the results were reversed in common effect networks. In particular, in common effect networks, casual discounting was more evident with strong causal strength. These results consistently demonstrate that participants consider not only causal relations but also causal strength in feature inference of causal categories.

KJSES 26(1) 65-78, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.65 |
ABSTRACT
Aircraft are representative of human-machine systems. There is a delay between the human operation and the completion of the machine operation such as when the machine starts to operate and when the force is transmitted to the machine and completed. Time perception is an important component of timing tasks and is known to be affected by the anxiety associated with high arousal. This research verified the impact of weather, flight, and time conditions on the anxiety and time perception of in-service pilots in a virtual reality area. Weather conditions were divided into visual flight weather conditions and very low visibility conditions. Experiments 1 and 2 were performed with different flight and time conditions. In Experiment 1, time perception was measured by employing a button added to the control rod in the scenario of hovering and level flight with relatively little transformed in momentum and little delay. In Experiment 2, time perception was measured in the procedure of naturally taking off the helicopter by employing only the control stick in a takeoff scenario where there was a lot of transformation in momentum and a lot of delays. As a result of the experiment, it was reported that anxiety and heart rate increased in very low visibility conditions In particular, among all flight conditions in Experiments 1 and 2, it was reported that time was overestimated in the scenario of increased anxiety. This outcome can lead to overestimation of time under the impact of anxiety and failure of the timing task, which may lead to challenges in maneuvering and possibly lead to accidents.

KJSES 26(1) 79-86, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.79 |
ABSTRACT
This study aims to create a highly conductive E-textile made by recycling PET with a Dip-coating process. PET fiber with hydrophobic properties is characterized by the difficulty in imparting great conductivity when both Virgin and Recycled are made of electronic fibers through a Dip-coating process. To advance the effectiveness of the Dip-coating process, a sample made of recycled PET was surface modified for 50 w 5 minutes and 10 minutes employing a Covance-2mprfq model from FEMTO SCIENCE. After that, the sample was immersed in an SWCNT dispersion (.1 wt%, Carbon Co., Ltd.) for 5 minutes, and then dip coating was conducted to allow the solution to permeate well into the sample through a padder (DAELIM lab). After the procedure was completed, the resistance measurement was measured with a multimeter at both ends and then accurately remeasured with a wider electrode. As a result of this contemplation, it was affirmed that great conductivity might be given through an impregnation process through the plasma surface modification. When the surface modification was performed for 10 minutes, the resistance was reduced by up to 2.880 times. Dependent on the results of this research, E-fibers employed in the smart wearable sector can also be made of recycled materials, improving smart wearable products that can save oil resources and reduce carbon emissions.

ABSTRACT
This study aimed to check the role of SNS upward comparison and SNS usage motivation in the effect of contingent self-esteem on inferiority feelings by verifying the link between each variable in young adults. Depending on passed studies, a study model for the relationship of each variable was founded and the moderated mediation effect was checked. We performed a survey on 400 young adults using SNS through an online survey, and finally, a total of 351 data were employed for analysis. The outcome of the analysis was as follows. First, contingent self-esteem, SNS upward comparison, SNS usage motivation, and inferiority feelings were all affirmed to reveal a positive correlation. Second, contingent self-esteem had an important impact on inferiority feelings, which was mediated by SNS upward comparison. Third, the relationship between SNS upward comparison and inferiority feelings was moderated by SNS usage motivation. Finally, SNS usage motivation moderated the indirect effect of contingent self-esteem on inferiority feelings via SNS upward comparison. Based on the results of this study, we presented the psychological and emotional implications that can experience the inferiority feelings in young adults.

KJSES 26(1) 101-114, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.101 |
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to recognize the determinant characteristics affecting consumers' clothing fit evaluation by employing text mining and social network analysis. For this aim, we first extracted text data linked to clothing fit from 2,000 consumer reviews collected from social network services and conducted semantic network examination and CONCOR analysis. As a result, we reported that “pants” and “skirts” were the most commonly associated clothing items with consumers' clothing fit evaluation. And the length of clothing was most commonly investigated. Then, the “waist” and “hip” were the most critical body parts affecting consumers' perception of clothing fit. Further, the four keywords including “wide,” “large,” “short,” and “long” were the most employed ones in consumer reviews when evaluating clothing fit. This study is meaningful in that it specifically recognized the structural relationship and semantic meanings of keywords relevant to consumers' evaluation of clothing fit, which could bring empirical reference information for advanced clothing fit.

KJSES 26(1) 115-132, 2023 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2023.26.1.115 |
ABSTRACT
Previous studies on emotion have repeatedly suggested that alexithymia is an important predictor of depression. Therefore, this study examined whether the relationship between these two variables can be moderated by personality factors, focusing on the Big five personality traits. An online survey of 312 college students, including alexithymia, depression, and Big five personality traits (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, and Openness to Experience) was conducted. As the results, as expected, alexithymia predicted depression, which was in line with the existing research flow. In addition, moderation analysis revealed that agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness to experience moderated the relationship between alexithymia and depression, while extraversion and conscientiousness did not. This study has an important implication in that it discriminated which specific personality traits function as moderators in the process of increasing depression due to alexithymia.
