ABSTRACT
Most marketing practitioners prospect that the beauty industry, which consists of various services and product related to the beauty, will be one of major industries in future. Thus they have been paying more attention to dramatic changes of the beauty industry. Furthermore they have been trying to differentiate their services and products from existing ones because of the tough competition in the market. For scientific marketing of the beauty services and beauty products, the beauty should be able to be measured. However marketing practitioners have no actual method to measure the beauty. In this study, we tried to find the beauty dimensions which are necessary to measure the beauty, based on Langmeyer and Shank(1994)`s study. We collected a total 258 samples as data through survey on university students, and explored the beauty dimension related to human attractiveness, and derived the implications for measuring the beauty. Based on the quantitative analysis, we derived the 4 beauty dimensions related to human attractiveness. The two of them were the inner beauty dimensions(energetic personality and thoughtful personality) whereas the others were the outer beauty dimensions(appearance and style). Additionally we analyzed if the variables, which are gender, perceived social value of beauty, and appearance satisfaction, affect on respondents` beauty perception. The empirical results showed that the beauty perception in the derived beauty dimensions is affected by the perceived social value of beauty and the appearance satisfaction: 1)The both of the inner beauty and the outer beauty are evaluated more positively when the appearance satisfaction is higher, 2)The outer beauty is evaluated more positively than the inner beauty when the perceived social value of beauty is higher.

KJSES 11(2) 153-171, 2008 |
ABSTRACT
Products can maintain a high level of market share for many years by succeeding early in the development of a market. To overcome the benefit of pioneering a market, late entrants to the market can use differentiation strategies: developing novel attributes or enhancing preexisted attributes. In general, preexisted attributes are more memorable, but novel attributes can be weighted as heavily as preexisted attributes by contextual constraints. Based on the research of appraisal-congruent judgement, certainty appraisal dimension may affect the degree to which people engage in systematic or heuristic processing. This study examines the effects of alignability (the ease with which the attributes of one object can be aligned or mapped onto another object) of product attributes and certainty on consumer preferences for late entrants. Participants were induced to experience certainty and then completed a questionnaire. As predicted, participants induced certainty were likely to engage in heuristic processing, while participants induced uncertainty were likely to engage in systematic processing. This study provides an implication that companies should additionally consider consumers` feeling of certainty when launching a new brand.

ABSTRACT
In this research, experiments were performed to focus on haptical factors among the emotional way of expression in design, and, find out what factors of preference influenced by haptic elements as surface material, grip senses and shape that considering clues when consumer has purchase intention. The questionnaire survey of beverage bottles in experiment extract to haptic elements were estimated in various surface of bottles and consumer preference through practical touch by managed objects themselves. The experimental groups for this survey, one is using sight and sense of touch both, the other groups are use sense of touch only without sense of sight. Therefore, to find out effective factors for design and functional matter as the kind of treating surface and properties derived from comparing two experimental groups have recognition in level of priority for each element related with haptical design sources. Finally, considering practical use schema with emotional approach based on haptical property to adopting design process.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to examine the outdoorwear satisfaction of silver consumers and their purchase behavior according to age. The survey participants in this study were 100 elders who were climbing the Bukhan mountain; 68 among them were new silver group in range of 55-64 years old. As the subjects were old people who had a relatively low level of cognitive ability, self-administration method and interview were employed together. The collected data were analyzed with t-Test and x2 -test. The results follow: the new silver group had purchased more and spent more money on outdoorwear. The brand recognition, purchase place, purchase criteria, and dissatisfaction factors of silver groups were different from those from new silver groups. The quality and design/color were thought to be needed for improvement for a new silver group, while quality and comfort/wearability were for silver group.

ABSTRACT
This paper describes to experiments on the estimation of tourist images in Busan. Preliminary tasks were performed to find out the condition of tourism souvenir and products proper to ocean city with situation in Busan. This survey analyzed by factor analysis taken in local residents, foreigners and other city. Result of factor analysis shows that the local residents and others think of Busan as similar image both. Outsider recognized Busan to tourist attractions of seaside environment and tourist facilities, and have good image of sightseeing and shopping in city. The local people remind Busan as progressive, feels sweet, activity, friendly image beside that foreign tourist remind as clean, modern, abundant, and others think as stable, changing, novelty, friendly. To abstract 8 factors among the images, take out of relevance to condition of tourist and image factors. Important factors for development of tourist industry in Busan are a feeling safe, clean, novelty in priority. And find way that enhancing image to abundant, friendly, activity were proper to tourist industry.

KJSES 11(2) 207-214, 2008 |
ABSTRACT
The inspection processing is for reducing loss which occurs fault because of fabric appearance. Up to now inspection machine which is used from inspection process is classified with the macrography inspection machine and the full automatic inspection machine. The macrography inspection machine is low price and efficient equipment but does not record information of fault. On the other side, the automatic inspection machine is high price, also the detection rate of one changes with effect of environment variable but able to record information of fault. It developed semi-automatic cloth inspetion machine with the weak point of the macrography inspection machine and the automatic inspection machine was complemented. And when it uses information which was collected by semi-automatic cloth inspection machine, the loss rate of original fabric is able to calculate. So sewing factories will be able to predict fabric consuming quantity.

Measuring user`s emotions while using a cellular phone
|
정상훈 Sang Hoon Jeong |
KJSES 11(2) 215-226, 2008 |
ABSTRACT
The previous research suggested a self-report questionnaire-type scale to measure a user`s emotions naturally expressed while using a product. Using the scale, this research measured their emotions expressed while users use cellular phones naturally for a certain time without setting tasks. The results suggest that the cellular phone of high usability lead to higher `Satisfaction in Usability` and lower `Uncomfortableness` than the cellular phone with usability flaws. On the other hand the cellular phone with usability flaws lead to higher `Uncomfortableness` and lower `Satisfaction in Usability` but higher in other representative emotions such as `Aesthetics`, `Novelty`, `Pleasure`, and `Excellence` than the other cellular phone. It can be insufficient to define the correlation between the product usability and the user`s emotions based on the results of this research: however, the correlation between these two factors will be discovered in more detail by analyzing the changes of the user`s emotions according to the length of time of using cellular phone.

KJSES 11(2) 227-234, 2008 |
ABSTRACT
Graphic and sounds are mainly used for presenting digital content as general. It has been reported that the reality of digital contents was improved by adding haptic factor to the contents of graphic and sounds. Therefore, various haptic system have recently been developed for implementing haptic sensation into digital contents. However, the delay of haptic display sometimes happens due to low hardware performance and causes to deteriorate reality of digital contents. The delay effect on reality has been important to be determined for presenting digital contents with haptic system. Therefore, this study is to find the effect on user`s cognition of digital contents evoking both visual and haptic sensation. Eight university students performed 4 repetitive tasks of pushing cube under the two conditions of visual and haptic delay. The delay time of each condition were set 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 second. As the result, both haptic and visual delay were negatively influenced user`s recognition while visual delay showed more dominant effect on user`s recognition than haptic delay.

KJSES 11(2) 235-243, 2008 |
ABSTRACT
This study is to develop automatic extraction system of continuous blood pressure using ECG (Electrocardiogram) and PPG(Photoplethysmography) for u-health care technology. PTT (Pulse Transit Time) was determined from peak difference between ECG and PPG and its inverse made to get blood pressure. Since the peaks were vulnerable to be contaminated from noise and variation of amplitude, this study developed the adaptive algorithm for peak calculation in any noise condition. The developed method of the adaptive peak calculation was proven to make the standard deviations of PPT decrease to 28% and the detection of noise increase to 18%. Also, the correlation model such as blood pressure = -0.044 · PTT + 133.592 has successfully been determined for predicting the continuous pressure measured without using cuff but with using PPG and ECG, only.
