ABSTRACT
Automotive sub-mat carpet for convenience and comfort of floor administration is additional supplemented floor mat. Sub Mat Backing of the current vehicle`s materials reclaimed rubber, PVC, etc. are used, but secondary rubber and PVC Backing have bad sound absorption. Also rubber is heavy too. Contact surfaces between PET staple fiber, PET non-woven, PVC backing and car`s floor carpet was measured the coefficient of friction for each sub-mat`s non-slip evaluation. A surface of PET non-woven sub-mat has the highest coefficient of friction. Each of sample was observed by optical microscope the contact surfaces before and after, Contact surfaces of PET staple fiber sub-mat was changed increasingly to non-woven. This fact is shown that the sub-mat would be tangled between its contact surface and top of the floor carpet. It is expected to be highly non-slip. In case of PET non-woven sub-mat had not different for contact surfaces between before and after. And PVC backing was shown lower non-slip than other samples. The result of optical microscope and coefficient of friction is seems to be related.

KJSES 15(2) 183-192, 2012 |
ABSTRACT
This study aims at expressing the correlation of ``creativity`` and ``emotional intelligence`` in cartoon expression learning through literary research and correlation analysis. Analyses were made on each sub-factor for the self emotional intelligence evaluation and the creativity evaluation made by experts through cartoon expressions by elementary school students, who are the learners. Studies on preceding research showed that creativity and emotional intelligence had a correlation and that it is common preception that higher creativity is equivalent to higher emotional intelligence. However, results of correlation analysis in this study showed that while there is a relation between creativity evaluation and emotional intelligence in cartoon expression learning, not all factors were correlated. Furthermore, the results of emotional evaluation of the upper and lower group learners did not show similar results in the creativity evaluation. Through this study, it can be said that for emotional intelligence and creativity factors, finding the appropriate emotional intelligence development method would be the way to enhance creativity. Therefore, in order to develop creativity through cartoon expression learning, systematic research should be performed for extracting the relative emotional intelligence factors.

KJSES 15(2) 201-208, 2012 |
ABSTRACT
The objectives of this study were to investigate the psychoacoustic properties of PTFE(Poly tetra Fluoroethylene) laminated vapor permeable water repellent fabrics which are frequently used for sportswear, to examine the relationship among fabrics`` basic characteristics, mechanical properties and the psychoacoustic properties, and finally to propose the predicting model to minimize the psychoacoustic fabric sound. A total of 8 specimens`` frictional sound were recorded and Zwicker`s psychoacoustic parameters such as loudness(Z), sharpness(Z), roughness(Z), and fluctuation strength(Z) were calculated using the Sound Quality Program. Mechanical properties of specimens were measured by KES-FB system. Loudness (Z) of specimen D-1 was the highest, which means the rustling sound of the specimen D-1 was the most noisy, Statistically significant difference among film type was observed only in loudness (Z) for fabric sound, Based on ANOVA and post-hoc test, specimens were classified into less loud PTFE film group (groupⅠ) and loud PTFE film group (groupⅡ). Loudness (Z) was higher when staple yarn was used compared when filament yarn was used. According to the correlation between the mechanical properties of fabrics and loudness(Z) in groupⅠ, the shear properties, compression properties and weight showed positive correlation with loudness(Z). According to the regression equation predicting loudness(Z) of groupⅠ, the layer variable was chosen. In groupⅡ, variables explaining the loudness(Z) were yarn types and shear hysteresis(2HG5).

ABSTRACT
This study researched the relationship between the element of "Favorable and Friendly" emotion on product design and the consumer`s reaction to it. The emotional elements used here were proposed in the existing study. The research method was divided into 1st test and 2nd test. In the 1st test result, Favorable was related to "want to own, simple, new product and high-class", and also connected with "digital product, gaming product and computers". The products related to Friendly had association with the items about "interesting, cute, familiar, warmth and soft", and also connected with "simple product (toy-like, household items, etc), low-price product, product which likes a friend, soft product, kitchen product and beauty treatments product, and so on". In the 2nd test, the preference of emotional product was high than general product, and it was known from the evaluation about design preference and design elements. If the preference was high following the order as: "Formativeness> Trend> Aesthetics> Color", the difference among the scores were small. And then the result about the relationship of emotional design factor "Favorable & Friendly" and evaluation of design preference & design elements was extraction.

KJSES 15(2) 231-238, 2012 |
ABSTRACT
This study aims for building an application system of converting sound into color image based on synesthetic perception. As the major features of input sound, both scale and octave elements extracted from F0(fundamental frequency) were converted into both hue and intensity elements of HSI color model, respectively. In this paper, we used the fixed saturation value as 0.5. On the basis of color model conversion theory, the HSI color model was then converted into the RGB model, so that a color image of the BMP format was finally created. In experiments, the basic system was implemented on both software and hardware(TMS320C6713 DSP) platforms based on the proposed sound-color image conversion method. The results revealed that diverse color images with different hues and intensities were created depending on scales and octaves extracted from the F0 of input sound signals. The outputs on the hardware platform were also identical to those on the software platform.

ABSTRACT
This paper looks to extract personality traits from the drama characters within a drama script, and to apply it them to a character that has an artificial emotion. The method of applying the personality of a character from a drama script is as follows. First, we separate a drama script into several pieces, by the characters therin. Next, we extract emotion-related terms by matching morphemes analysis and by using an emotion terms database. Next, we analyze a dominant emotion using extracted emotion terms. Finally last, we apply the analyzed dominant emotion to an equation pertaining to artificial emotion. We made progress in developing user evaluation that features blind testing, to verify that the artificial emotion character bears the personality of a drama character. We apply three drama character personalities to artificial emotion characters bearing the same appearance. The user had to match three artificial emotion characters and drama characters according to personality. The users had a high percentage of correct answers, thus confirming the efficacy of our method of applying a personality, using information from a drama script.

KJSES 15(2) 249-258, 2012 |
ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of aesthetics of smartphones on subjective and objective usability by the task factors. Although several studies have focused on the effects of aesthetics on subjective and objective usability, correlation between aesthetics and objective usability is ambiguous. Using smartphones which have same functions but different aesthetics, thirty-six subjects were asked to complete one of 3 types of tasks (inputting information, searching information, enjoying information). Both performance data and subjective measures were recorded. The results showed that high aesthetics had a more positive effect on subjective usability than low aesthetics before and after use, with smaller difference after use. High aesthetics seemed to yield longer task completion times. But objective usability was not significantly affected by both task factors and aesthetics. The results indicated that aesthetics may have multiple effects that go beyond affective satisfaction. The findings of this study could be applied to predict effects of aesthetics on subjective and objective usability in usability testing.

KJSES 15(2) 259-268, 2012 |
ABSTRACT
In a P300-based concealed information test (P300 CIT), the result of the test is greatly affected by the value of the probe stimulus. With a probe stimulus of low value, the detection rate decreases. The aim of this study was to determine whether the pupil-based concealed information test (Pupil CIT) could be used in addition to the P300 CIT for the probes of low value. Participants were told to choose one card from a deck of five cards (space 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), Then a P300 CIT and a Pupil CIT for the selected card were administered. P300s were measured at 3 scalp sites (Fz, Cz, and Pz), and the pupil sizes of left and right eyes were recorded. The P300 amplitude measured at Fz, Cz, and Pz was significantly different between the probe and irrelevant stimuli. And, in the Pupil CIT, the pupil size was also different between the two stimuli for both eyes. The detection rates of the P300 CIT were 44% at Fz and Cz sites and 36% at Pz site. And the detection rates of the Pupil CIT were 52% for the left eye and 60% for the right eye. There is a trend that the detection rate of the Pupil CIT was higher than that of the P300 CIT, but the difference didn`t reach significance partly because of the relatively small sample size. The correlation between the decision based on the P300 CIT and that based on the Pupil CIT was not significant. As a conclusion, it is recommended to use a Pupil CIT instead of a P300 CIT when the value of the probe is low. And a combination of the measures may be superior to either one of them in detection rate.
