ABSTRACT
This study is aimed to measure the physical colorimetric property according to three conditions, natural dyestuffs (Gardenia, Sappan wood, Lac, Gardenia blue, Mugwort, and Indigo), fabric types (cotton, silk), and presence of mordant (without, with), and then to evaluate the psychological sensibility. Also, to perform analysis of variance (ANOVA) to find out the differences of physical properties according to the three natural dyeing conditions, and to analyze the relationship between physical property and psychological property by Pearson``s correlation analysis and then suggest the prediction model by regression analysis using SPSS program (ver. 21.0). Finally, to propose a certain sensibility image map of naturally dyed fabrics, MDS (Multidimensional Scaling) was used, and as a result, Gardenia dyed fabrics having the color sensibilities such as ``hard`` and ``heavy`` were suggested to evoke masculine image, and to evoke feminine image, Sappan wood and Lac having ``bright``, ``transparent``, ``soft`` and ``light`` sensibilities were suggested. Natural image might be induced by using ``subdued`` Mugwort dyed fabrics, and active image might be induced by using ``showy`` Indigo dyed fabric.

KJSES 19(3) 15-26, 2016 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2016.19.3.15 |
ABSTRACT
This study was performed to investigate whether aesthetic preference is related to the personality of an individual or not. Even though prior studies have reported that aesthetic preference for a certain style of art is associated with a personality factor, it is more important to focus on impressions and feelings about paintings than the style of art. The present study tried to examine how positive, negative, and neutral feelings about paintings are related to a personality factor, and that familiarity has an effect on aesthetic preference. After participants answered a Big-Five personality questionnaire, they then rated the preference for and familiarity about paintings which implied emotions. The results showed that individuals with higher scores of neuroticism preferred negative paintings. A preference for negative paintings is hard to explain, but this could be explained by results of this study. A hypothesis that familiar paintings would be more preferred is supported by the data. Aesthetic preference has both objectivity and the subjectivity. This study explained subjectivity through individual differences, and investigate art from a psychological point of view rather than conservative methods that sort paintings into art history.

KJSES 19(3) 27-42, 2016 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2016.19.3.27 |
ABSTRACT
The purposes of this study were to investigate the emotional consumption propensity and the preferences for sensibility factors of fabrics(color tone, pattern and texture image), and to analyse the differences according to demographic variables and relationships between emotional consumption propensity and preferences for sensibility factors of fabrics, focusing on male and female consumers in 20``s, 30``s and 40``s. The emotional consumption propensity were classified into symbolic consumption propensity, individual consumption propensity, aesthetic consumption propensity and hedonic consumption propensity. The subjects attached great importance in the order of aesthetic consumption propensity, individual consumption propensity and symbolic consumption propensity. Those factors of emotional consumption propensity showed partially significant difference according to demographic variables. Female consumers preferred various color tones than men did, and preference for light color tone showed significant differences according to gender and occupation of consumers. The preferences for floral pattern showed significant difference according to gender, age, education, occupation and marital status of consumers. The factors of the texture images for the fabrics showed partially significant difference according to demographic variables except education of consumers. There were almost significant relationships between emotional consumption propensity and the preferences for sensibility factors for fabrics.

ABSTRACT
The uniform nanofibers of polyurethane with different contents of Juniperus Chinensis extracts were successfully prepared by electrospinning method. Polyurethane is widely used as functional polymers in the industrials, medical field as their properties can be tailor-made by adjusting their compositions. Juniperus Chinensis has been reported for anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral activities. PU/Juniperus Chinensis extracts composite nanofibers were produced at different Juniperus Chinensis extracts concentrations (0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5wt.%). The effects of the major parameters in electrospinning process such as tip to collector distance (TCD), voltage, polymer concentration on the average diameter of electrospun nanoweb were investigated. As results, 12wt% PU solution concentration, 8kV applied voltage and 15cm tip to collector distance were identified as optimum conditions for electrospinning the composite nanofibers. The diameter and morphology of the nanocomposite nanofibers were confirmed by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The resulting fibers exhibited a uniform diameter ranging from 435nm∼547nm. It has been found that the average diameters of fibers decreased by the adding of Juniperus Chinensis extracts. These nanowebs can be used for medical materials, protective clothing, and antimicrobial filters.

ABSTRACT
This study examined the difference between the deaf and hearing adolescents of experiencing emotions and the intensity levels of expressing them. Three different video clips were used to induce pleasure, anger, and sadness. While watching the clips, facial expressions of the participants were recorded. The experienced emotions were measured by a self-report method, and the third person rated participants`` expressed emotions based upon the recorded facial images. Two groups (deaf and hearing) were compared if those two groups shared the same experienced emotions, and whether the ratings scored by the third person corresponded with the self-rated scores. There was no significant difference in experienced emotion and its intensity level. However, hearing adolescents showed more intensive responses of pleasure than they reported, while deaf adolescents showed less intensive expressions of happiness than they reported themselves. Thus, hearing people might not be able to detect and fully comprehend how the deaf feel in general circumstances. This further indicates that the deaf adolescents cannot get enough supports from the hearing people when they express their feelings, and consequently, have a possibility of causing misunderstandings, conflicts, or even a break in relationships.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of display on time on tasks and virtual presence in the immersive virtual reality. Head mounted display (HMD) and monitor conditions were compared when the participants were asked to complete navigation tasks in a virtual classroom. Time on tasks and virtual presence were measured. Three factors of the virtual presence were applied as dependent variables such as 1) spatial presence, 2) involvement, and 3) realness. The results showed that HMD condition took longer time to finish tasks than monitor conditions. HMD condition showed significantly higher perception from all of the virtual presence factors. Interestingly, there was a significant interaction effect between the display conditions and presence factors. The relationship between display types and virtual presence factors were discussed for future study.

KJSES 19(3) 81-88, 2016 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2016.19.3.81 |
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to analyze several factors that can affect the respiration rate measurement using the Creative Senz3D depth camera. Depth error and noise of the depth camera were considered as affecting factors. Ambient light was also considered. The result of this study showed that the depth error was increased with an increase of the distance between subject and depth camera. The result also showed depth asymmetry in the depth image. The depth values measured in right region of the depth image was higher than real distance and depth values measured in left of the depth image was lower than real distance. The difference error of the depth was influenced by the orientation of the depth camera. The noise created by the depth camera was increased as the distance between subject and depth camera was increased and it decreased as the window size was increased which was used to calculate noise level. Ambient light seems to have no influence on the depth value. In real environment, we measured respiration rate. Participants were asked to breathe 20 times. We could find that the respiration rate which was measured from depth camera shows excellent agreement with that of participants.

KJSES 19(3) 103-120, 2016 DOI : 10.14695/KJSOS.2016.19.3.103 |
ABSTRACT
This study investigated how video playback styles affect viewers’ emotional responses to a video and then suggested emotion assessment tool for playback-edited videos. The study involved two in-lab experiments. In the first experiment, observers were asked to express their feelings while watching videos in both original playback and articulated playback simultaneously. By controlling the speed, direction, and continuity, total of twelve playback styles were created. Each of the twelve playback styles were applied to five kinds of original videos that contains happy, anger, sad, relaxed, and neutral emotion. Thirty college students participated and more than 3,800 words were collected. The collected words were comprised of 899 kinds of emotion terms, and these emotion terms were classified into 52 emotion categories. The second experiment was conducted to develop proper emotion assessment tool for playback-edited video. Total of 38 emotion terms, which were extracted from 899 emotion terms, were employed from the first experiment and used as a scales (given in Korean and scored on a 5-point Likert scale) to assess the affective quality of pre-made video materials. The total of eleven pre-made commercial videos which applied different playback styles were collected. The videos were transformed to initial (un-edited) condition, and participants were evaluated pre-made videos by comparing initial condition videos simultaneously. Thirty college students evaluated playback-edited video in the second study. Based on the judgements, four factors were extracted through the factor analysis, and they were labelled “Happy”, “Sad”, “Reflective” and “Weird (funny and at the same time weird).” Differently from conventional emotion framework, the positivity and negativity of the valence dimension were independently treated, while the arousal aspect was marginally recognized. With four factors from the second experiment, finally emotion assessment tool for playback-edited video was proposed. The practical value and application of emotion assessment tool were also discussed.
