ABSTRACT
Fabric extraction force measured through nozzle tester reflects a comprehensive fabric handle. Nozzle tester takes advantage of low cost, and simple and fast operating procedure compared with KES system. The paper is to develop the semi-emprical equation for assessment of the fabric handle measured with nozzle tester on the basis of friction law. The variables considered in the equation are fabric`s frictional coefficient and drape coefficient which is determined in terms of fabric bending length and shear strain. The experiment of 12 different cotton and polyester fabrics and comparisons between experimental and theoretical results were conducted. Fabrics of high frictional coefficients, high bending length, and low shear strain showed high fabric handle forces (low handle values). The handle forces predicted from the equation agreed well with those measured, which indicates that the equation can be used to objectively evaluate fabric handle with respect to fabric`s own properties and also provide an information for fabric design to improve the handle performance.

KJSES 14(2) 197-206, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to suggest automatic recognition of the subject`s level of arousal into high arousal and low arousal with neural network SOM learning. The automatic recognition in the level of arousal is composed of three stages. First, it is a stage of ECG measurement and analysis. It measures the subject playing a shooting game with ECG and extracts characteristics for SOM learning. Second, it is a stage of SOM learning. It learns input vectors extracting characteristics. Finally, it is a stage of arousal recognition which recognize the subject`s level of arousal when new vectors are input after SOM learning is completed. The study expresses recognition results in the level of arousal and the level of arousal in numerical value and graph when SOM learning results in the level of arousal and new vectors are input. Finally, SOM evaluation was analyzed average 86% by comparing emotion evaluation results of the existing research with automatic recognition results of SOM in order. The study could experience automatic recognition with other levels of arousal by each subject with SOM.

KJSES 14(2) 207-220, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to investigate sensibility words related with eco-friendly in the two media fashion magazines and internet newspapers and to analysis their appearance frequency and changes by the year through 1999~2010. Most frequently used words are ``nature, eco, cotton, natural fiber, health, fresh, clear, preservation, harmony, corn fiber, and Lohas``. The words are divided in 4 groups: ``Nature/Environment, Material/Fiber, Human, and Adjectives/Micell``. A point of appearing time is analyzed: ``ecology, memory-shape material, organic, spa`` were used before 2000, ``nature environment, eco-friendly, stretch material, wellbeing, substitute, recycling`` were in 2000-2001, ``smart material, eco material, green`` in 2002-2003, ``coolbiz, Lohas, natural dye`` in 2004-2005, ``herb medicine, sustainable, warmbiz`` in 2006-2007, ``greensumer, greenlife, solar energy, forest bath`` in 2008-2009. Looking into their changes, in early 2000, the words of eco-friendly emotion and sensibility had appeared frequently relatively, but later on they decreased, and again recently increased showing highest appearing frequency. ``Nature/Environment`` words have appeared recently very much, while ``Human`` sensibility words have not changed much or decreased a little. ``Adjective/Micell`` words has increased little bit recently. ``Material/Fiber`` words showed decrease at fashion magazine, while they increased at the pages of internet news.

KJSES 14(2) 221-226, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
Although diverse researches on sensing method of human movement have been performed, there are still many limitations to the existing methods. As a part of supplementing the limitations to the existing motion sensing methods, this study aimed to execute an exploratory examination on a POF-based sleeve-shaped motion sensor for less restrictive sensing of human movement. In this study, a set of POF-based motion sensor, which was embedded in a sleeve-shaped platform was devised, and a set of exploratory experiments was performed on the possibility of sensing of human movement as diverse as in daily life, through this device. The scope of this research was limited to an exploration on the possibility and basic elements of POF-based sleeve-shaped motion sensor, while the influence of sleeve patterns, those of wearer`s somatotype, those of sewing method were not studied in this study. When compared to the pre-existing methods, the POF-based motion sensor platformed on sleeve in this study, which was purposively devised to be applied to the motion sensing clothing shows some beneficial characteristics: more sensitive measurement on human motion, low cost, no timely restriction in sensing, no request for gigantic apparatus and space for sensing.

KJSES 14(2) 227-234, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
The purpose of present study was to examine brain functions associated with intention to conceal information. Kubo & Nittono(2009) and Verschuere et al.(2009) studied the intention to conceal information using P300 amplitude. On the basis of these two studies, present study attempted to identify brain area while participants were performing concealed information test. 19 healthy college students participated in fMRI-based concealed information test. Participants` name were used as concealed information. The test was performed in two conditions. In the intention condition, participants were instructed to try leaving their names undetected by suppressing their brain response to it. In the no intention condition, participants performed the test without intention to conceal. The fMRI results showed that the right anterior cingulated cortex (Rt. ACC), and left orbito-frontal cortex (Lt. OFC) activations were greater in the deceptive condition than the truth condition. These finding confirmed that ACC is area a deception-specific process as shown in the previous fMRI study. The OFC activation was also observed in the deceptive condition. The OFC is an area known as associated with emotional response such as anxiety, fear, and guilty. The anxiety induced while participants were intended to conceal information might be related to the OFC activation.

KJSES 14(2) 235-244, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the appropriateness of gustatory features in product design affect product evaluation and accompanied response by using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI). Through the pilot survey, we categorized the product designs into two groups based on the level of the appropriateness. The total of 40 product designs were selected as the experimental stimuli. 15 right-handed participants(mean age = 23.33, SD = 1.7) were scanned with 3T MRI machine(ISOL Tech, Oxford OR63). The experimental stimuli were passively presented inside the scanner. In post scanning session, participants were asked to measure their preference and buying intention to the product designs. The results show that both the preference and buying intention were significantly higher for the high appropriateness condition compared to those of low appropriateness designs. Caudate nucleus and putamen, areas related to the positive reward such as monetary acquisition showed greater activation in response to the designs of high appropriateness condition, compared to the low appropriateness designs.

KJSES 14(2) 245-256, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
This study consists of two sections to figure out the relationship between autistic features and empathizing-systemizing traits. For the first section, the research involved 355 university students to measure their EQ, SQ-R and AQ. As a result, it is found that AQ was negatively correlated to EQ, and D score(relative difference between EQ and SQ-R of the individuals), but it was not significantly related to SQ-R. It means that the subject has high AQ if he has relatively lower EQ than SQ-R. For the second section, the subjects were divided into two groups based on their AQ score; the subjects who had a tendency of autism and the subjects who did not. The test measured how these two groups were different in terms of facial expressions` recognition according to the tendency of autism, facial expression presenting areas(whole face, eyes-alone, mouth-alone) and different types of emotions(basic and complex emotions). As a result, the subjects who had a tendency of autism were lower at judging facial expressions than the subjects who did not. Also, the results showed that the subjects judged better on the condition of basic emotions more than complex emotions, the whole face more than eyes-alone and mouth-alone. Especially, for the eyes-alone condition, the subjects who had a tendency of autism were lower at judging facial expressions than the subjects who did not. This study suggests that empathizing traits and facial expressions` recognition are related to the tendency of autism.

KJSES 14(2) 257-268, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
We define a ``dominant emotion`` as acting dominantly for unit time, and propose methodology to extract dominant emotion in a literature automatically. Due to the nature of the Korean language, it is able to be changed or reversed owns meanings as desinence. But it might be possible to extract a dominant emotion in a text has a small quantity like a fiction or an essay. A process to extract a dominant emotion in a literature is as follows. At first, extract morphemes in a whole text. And dispart words having emotional meaning as matching emotion terms database. Map disported terms to a affective circumplex model and matching it with basic emotion. Finally, analyze dominant emotion according to matched basic emotion. And we adjust our methodology to two literature; modern fiction ``A lucky day`` by Jingeon, Hyun and essay ``An old man who shave a bat`` by Woyoung, Yun. As a result, it was possible to grasp flows of dominant emotion.

KJSES 14(2) 269-278, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
This paper illustrates the inter-relationship between the theta/alpha ratio of the EEG signal and multiple HRV related parameters associated with the cardiovascular system response during event-related stimuli. Both EEG and PPG signals were simultaneously recorded in 21 healthy subjects. All subjects had their attention focused on the CNT program for nine minutes. Time-frequency analysis was applied to the EEG and PPG signals. The theta/alpha ratio was extracted from the EEG results, and the HRV features, including beat interval(1), SDNN(2), RMSSD(3), NN50(4), LF(5), HF(6), and LF/HF(7), were extracted from the PPG. Through multiple linear regression, the relationship (R2) between the multiple combined features and the theta/alpha rhythm was identified. As a result, the combinations of R2(R2=0.253; seven dimensions) and the theta/alpha ratio indicated a higher inter-relationship value than those of other combinations. The combinations of features that were greater than three dimensions, based on {SDNN(2), HF(6)}, generally showed higher R2 value. We demonstrate that the high dimensional combinations had a higher correlation than did the low dimensional combinations.

KJSES 14(2) 279-292, 2011 |
ABSTRACT
This research explores the differences of two consumption behaviors from the thinking style they elicit. Specifically, we predict that more utilitarian attributes(vs. hedonic attributes) may be used when evaluating utilitarian products whereas more hedonic attributes(vs. utilitarian attributes) may be used when evaluating hedonic products. In addition, this research considered two different thinking styles: rational thinking style and experiential thinking style, and try to find out whether different product attribute information could elicit different thinking style and whether the thinking style has any effect on product evaluation. The data reported in this research demonstrates the following results. Firstly, people use different criteria when judging different types of product. That is, when judging utilitarian product, they are more likely to use utilitarian attribute as evaluation criteria, on the contrary they inclined to use hedonic attribute as evaluation criteria when choosing hedonic product. Secondly, different types of attribute informations could elicit different thinking style. Utilitarian attribute informations elicit rational thinking style whereas hedonic attribute informations elicit experiential thinking style. Finally, if people engage in rational thinking elicited in processing utilitarian attribute informations, the evaluation of utilitarian product is enhanced. But even though people engage in experiential thinking in processing hedonic attribute informations, the evaluation of hedonic product is not improved.
