ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is finding alternative parameters of the HRV so as to minimize the subjective errors by STAI and BDI, could be have two types of significant correlation levels depending on normalized method. Particularly, the LF/HF presented as the quantitative physiological parameter that can reflect both state-anxiety and trait-anxiety.

ABSTRACT
This paper analyses the sensory responses of Chinese female consumers towards different designs of perfume bottles with particular attention to the existence of logos on them. We used total 40 samples of the perfume bottles, 20 with logos on them and 20 without, and the results show that young Chinese female consumers prefer simple designs over complex designs that contain different types of free curves with vivid colors. In addition, the existence of logos on bottles was found not to change the responses significantly, meaning that the logos on bottles do not affect sensibility of Chinese female towards perfume bottles. A logo`s impacts on the bottle depended in part on the bottle`s color and shape. Overall, a perfume bottle with simple shapes and light colors became regarded as more resplendent when the logo was added, but a bottle with more complex shapes and vivid colors tended to become regarded as plainer after adding the logo. This shows that a logo serves as a conciliatory element in the impression of the whole bottle in the ``resplendent-plain`` category.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to implement and verify an information retrieval(IR) system based on users` relevance criteria for information search tasks. For this purpose, we implemented an IR system with a dynamic ranking model using users` relevance criteria varying with the types of information search task and evaluated this system through user experiment. 45 participants performed three information search tasks on both IR systems with a static and a dynamic ranking model. Three Information search tasks are fact finding search task, problem solving search task and decision making search task. Participants evaluated top five search results on 7 likert scales of relevance. We observed that the IR system with a dynamic ranking model provided more relevant search results compared to the system with a static ranking model. This research has significance in designing IR system for information search tasks, in testing the validity of user-oriented relevance judgement model by implementing an IR system for actual information search tasks and in relating user research to the improvement of an IR system.

KJSES 15(3) 381-388, 2012 |
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to check if LED lighting can be used as general lighting and examine the color rendering property of full color RGB LED lighting. CRI is one of the important properties of evaluating lighting. However the present CRI does not fully evaluate LED lightings. Firstly, the performance of a simple task was compared other than comparing CRI values for different lighting. For experimental preparation three types of lightings were used; standard D65 fluorescent tube, general household fluorescent tube, and RGB LED lighting. All three lightings show high error for Purple-Red. All three lightings show similar error for all hues and prove that color discrimination is not affected by the lighting. This proves that LED could be used as general lighting. Secondly, problems of the conventional CIE CRI method are considered and new models are suggested for the new lighting source. Each of the models was evaluated with visual experiment results obtained by the white light matching experiment. The suggested model is based on the CIE CRI method but replaces the color space model by CIELAB, color difference model by CIEDE2000, and chromatic adaptation model by CAT02.

ABSTRACT
Virtual worlds have pursued reality as if they actually exist. In order to evaluate the sense of reality in the computer-simulated worlds, several subjective questionnaires, which include specific independent variables, have been proposed in the literature. However, the questionnaires lack reliability and validity necessary for defining and measuring the virtual realization. Few studies have been conducted to investigate the effect of visual factors on the sense of reality experienced by exposing to a virtual environment. Therefore, this study was aimed at reinvestigating the variables and proposing a more reliable and advisable questionnaire for evaluating the virtual realization, focusing on visual factors. Twenty-one questions were gleaned from the literature and subjective interviews with focused groups. Exploratory factor analysis with oblique rotation was performed on the data obtained from 200 participants(females: 100) after exposing to a virtual character image described in an extreme way. After removing poorly loading items, remained subsets were subjected to confirmatory factor analysis on the data obtained from the same participants. As a result, 3 significant factors were determined to efficiently measure the virtual realization. The determined factors included visual presence(3 subset items), visual immersion(7 subset items), and visual interactivity(4 subset items). The proposed factors were verified by conducting a subjective evaluation in which participants were asked to evaluate a 3D virtual eyeball model based on the visual presence. The results implicated that the measurement method was suitable for evaluating the degree of the virtual realization. The proposed method is expected to reasonably measure the degree of the virtual realization.
