ABSTRACT
Numerosity perception is considered as an innate ability of human being where its sensivitiy may widely vary across each individual person. The present study explored the relationship between visual working memory (VWM), visual search efficiency, and numerosity sensitivity. To accomplish this, we calculated each participant``s K-value from change detection performance representing one``s storage capacity in VWM, slopes of search RTs representing the search efficiency, and discrimination sensitivity for a quantity difference across two sets of dot arrays representing the numerosity sensitivity. The correlational analysis across the measurements revealed that participants with a high VWM capacity better discriminated the numerosity difference in the arrays when the spatial information in the two dot arrays was preserved. In contrast, the participants with high search efficiency discriminated better the difference in the arrays when the spatial information in the arrays was not preserved. The results indicate high VWM-capacity individuals were presumably able to use a strategy of storing the dot arrays by grouping them into a smaller pattern of dot arrays while high search-efficiency individuals were able to use a strategy of rapidly switching their focused attention across the dots in the arrays to count each individual dot. These in sum suggest that individual differences in numerosity sensitivity rely on one``s working memory capacity as well as their efficient use of switching focused attention.

ABSTRACT
The healing effect of the aroma treated fabrics with lavender and lemon aromas was investigated by assessing the autonomic nervous responses of human body. For this cause Lemon and lavender microcapsules were coated on a cotton fabric using a water-based acrylic binder, respectively. And the study created a total of four aroma treated fabrics at a concentration of 2% and 5% respectively. Electrocardiogram(ECG), skin conductance, and Blood flow, of ten participants were measured for 30 sec at a stable condition, at a stress status (working memory task), and at a stimulation status (after rubbing aroma treated fabrics). Subjective sensibilities of the aromas were also evaluated. With regard to the responses of the autonomic nervous system, in order to understand how the values gained after the normalization process would cause different physiological signals between the stable state and the aroma-stimulated state as well as between the stress state and the aroma-stimulated state, the study conducted a non-parametric test, friedman test as well and analyzed tendencies. LF/HF turned out to be significantly different to the stress state, and according to the results of the post-hoc comparison, lemon 5% presented statistically significant differences among the lavender 2%, lavender5%, lemon2%. Lemon 5% stimuli increased stress but stimuli consisting of the lavender 2%, the lavender 5% and the lemon 2% decreased stress because of a psychological rest. And the stimuli of the lavender 2%, the lavender 5%, the lemon 2% presented a healing effect in this research.

ABSTRACT
This study employed the first-person shooter task(FPST: Correll, Park, Judd, & Wittenbrink, 2002) paradigm to examine racial bias toward Blacks in a population unrelated to the Black-White racial context. We tested whether having Korean participants play the role of a White police officer portrayed as nonracist (vs. racist) would attenuate the bias to shoot Black suspects. Participants were told that they would perform a police simulation task as a White police officer, who was described as racist or nonracist, or was presented without a description. They then performed the FPST. Although nonracist description lowered shooter bias, racist description weakened it even more, contrary to our prediction. The latter result is interpreted as due to activation of an egalitarian goal after reading about racism-related description, especially as the description was about someone who was to be incorporated to the self. Supporting this interpretation, a mediation analysis involving Racist and Control conditions revealed that the racist description was associated with stronger perception of the officer’s racial bias, which in turn was correlated with weaker shooter bias.

ABSTRACT
LED lighting has an advantage of adjusting color temperature. This change of color temperature may derive change in behavioral and physiological responses of the visual perception for indoor environments. This research examined the changes of behavioral and physiological responses caused by the color temperature. The environment was configured that the indoor temperature was 20 degrees centigrade or less as the perceived uncomfortable environment in winter. Then, the comfortable sensation vote (CSV) and the results of 3-back working memory test were measured as behavioral responses. In addition, the Electrodermal Activity (EDA) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) were measured as the responses of autonomics nervous system (ANS) in the three conditions of color temperature (red: 3862K, white: 5052K, blue: 11,460K). As a result, behavioral responses were not significant by the condition of color temperature, but the tendency of occupants’ physiological relaxation appeared in the blue color temperature condition compared with the white color temperature condition. Although the color temperature of LED lighting might be a small factor in terms of the characteristics of indoor environment, it suggests that the color temperature could have an impact on the physiological changes in the parasympathetic nervous system.

ABSTRACT
This study carried out an experiment to identify subject’s work effectiveness and energy saving effect using LED light. Towards this end, this study configured nine various lighting environments in order to control PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and illuminance (lux), which are the characteristics of LED light. The PWM ratio of LED light was set as R:G:B=1:1:1, R:G:B=4:1:5, and R:G:B=8:7:7, respectively, and illuminance (lux) was set as 400 lx, 700 lx, and 1000 lx, respectively. In addition, the indoor environment was set temperature 20-24 ℃, humidity 50%-60%, and the amount of clothing 1. This study analyzed work effectiveness and energy consumption in nine lighting environments, each. Error correction was performed for work effectiveness analysis, and cumulative power consumption was measured in each lighting environment for energy consumption analysis. According to experiment results through the lighting environments suggested in this study, accuracy and spent time effectiveness were good in 700lux and higher than 400lux. For spent time, the best effectiveness was revealed in the suggested PWM ratio, R:G:B=8:7:7. The lowest power consumption on each illuminance (lux) was revealed in the order of R:G:B=8:7:7, RGB=1:1:1, and R:G:B=4:1:5. Therefore, pulse-width modulation effect is proposed in this paper was found to affect the efficiency and energy saving.

ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to investigate the neural substrates associated with processing anger among young males with alcohol use disorders (AUDs) using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Eighteen individuals with AUD and 15 demographically similar non-abusers participated in the study. Participants were scanned on their brain functioning while they viewed an audio-visual film clip that was previously designed specifically to induce anger emotion, followed by anpsychological assessment. Greater brain activities were detected in the left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) among subjects with AUD compared to the controls during the exposure to anger-provoking stimuli. Despite the same level of subjective anger during anger induction, the greater activations both in the IFG and dACC regions may suggestthat individuals with AUD have a greater propensity to undergo cognitive control and self-regulation while experiencing anger.

ABSTRACT
Nowadays, people start to focus on the value of ‘Mindfulness’ and ‘Slowness’, instead of the importance of ‘Development’ and ‘Advancement’ in their whole life. According to this background, we attempted to find new research opportunities on User Experience(UX) in usage context of ‘Erasing’. Through a interdisciplinary literature review on related works regarding the concept of erasing, we tried to understanding the meaning of erasing within the perspective of philosophy, psychology, and human-computer interaction(HCI). We also conducted the contextual inquiry, one of the qualitative research methods to examine the actual usage context and the user’s experience, with 79 users who were required to erase something in three usage contexts, including Paper-Eraser condition, Computer-Keyboard condition, and Tablet PC condition. The results indicate that it is important to provide not only effective erasing but also satisfaction for users in the usage-context of erasing. From these attempts, we expect that our findings will be helpful to understand the meaning of the erasing in academic and practical fields.

ABSTRACT
Although various methods have been proposed and utilized for video reality improvement, use of olfaction still remains at a rudimentary stage. Previous research reported reality improvement effect of some scents when a video displayed specific objects whose odors matched to the scents provided. In addition, another study showed that provision of scents that correspond to the prevailing color of a video improves sense of immersion. However, the above studies have clear limitations because not all videos have specific odor or obvious color. Assuming, in this study, that sensibility-based scent provision in the absence of main odor or color will increase sense of reality, the present study aimed at building adjective profiles of various scents that convey different sensibilities. To this end, in Experiments 1 and 2, we collected a set of adjectives appropriate for description of scents, and in Experiment 3, we built profiles of 16 scents using 30 adjectives. In addition, we grouped scents of similar sensibilities using cluster analysis. These results could be used not only for video reality improvement but also for the purposes of emphasizing product concepts or store positioning, etc.

KJSES 18(2) 85-100, 2015 |
ABSTRACT
This study aimed at examining if the original memory remains after a misinformation is presented, using Event- Related Potential based Concealed Information Test (ERP-based CIT). In the first stage of the study, the participant was presented with either the original information or a misleading information after experiencing an event (Post-information). The second stage was to measure brain wave and reaction time on the original, misleading, and irrelevant information (CIT-Stimulus). P300 amplitude, P300 area, P300 latency, and reaction time were used as dependant variables. In the result, a significant Post-information .CIT-Stimulus interaction effect was found on the P300 area measured at Cz, Pz, and Oz area. This interaction effect implied the possibility that the original information could be partially impaired in memory by misleading information presented afterward. P300 amplitude at Pz area did not differ between the accurate and the misleading stimuli in the condition in which a misleading information was presented. This result can be explained by source monitoring error. In discussion, the limitations of this study and directions of future studies were discussed.
