ABSTRACT
This study was carried out in order to investigate color sensation and sensibility for yellowish natural dye fabrics and reddish ones and to establish prediction models for color sensibility factors of them by color sensation and the related physical measurements focusing on 40s middle-aged people. Eight fabric stimuli which were dyed with a variety of yellowish or reddish natural dyes was subjectively evaluated in terms of color sensation and sensibility by 40s aged participants. As results, three color sensibility factors including `Active`, `Characteristic`, and `Relax` were extracted and they were examined in respect of their relationships with color sensation and physical color properties. Color sensibility factor `Active`, the dominant factor for the naturally dyed fabrics was explained by L* and sensation `Deep` in its predictive model and a yellowish fabric dyed with 300% solution of armur cork unmordanted was perceived the strongest in the factor. Factor `Characteristic` was predicted by both a* and sensation `Light` and reddish natural dye fabrics tended to be felt more strongly for it. Color sensation `Strong` was the only predictor for factor `Relax` in that naturally dyed fabrics with lower values for the sensation seemed to show higher `Relax` factor and a reddish fabric dyed with safflower 125% was the highest for the color sensibility factor. These results could be utilized to design color-sensible natural dye fabrics for middle-aged people.

KJSES 12(1) 121-128, 2009 |
ABSTRACT
The article reports findings on: (1) development of emotion assessment scale in evaluating the Television(TV) picture quality; and (2) how psychological and physical factors relate to TV picture quality. A total of 152 adjectives that specifically describe emotional reactions were first selected from a Korean dictionary of adjectives, followed by ratings on their suitability for the evaluation of TV picture quality. The final selection of 19 adjective, based on the reported rating scores greater than 4.1, were used on 126 college students who were asked to perform similarity ratings on the adjectives. Based on factor analyses (i.e., principal component analysis with oblique rotation) on the similarity of scores, the following adjectives were selectively chosen for the development of the new emotion assessment scale: `neat-messy`, `refreshing-gloomy`, `clean-dirty`, `comfortable-tense`, `smooth-rough`, `bright-dark`, `gorgeous-plain`, `diverse-monotonous`, `satisfying`, `natural`, and `sensuous`. These adjectives composed into two distinct constructs, `cleanness or smart` factor and `gorgeousness` factor, which demonstrated sensitivity to changes in brightness, contrast, color, and tint in the TV picture quality, except for changes in sharpness.

Image Transformation Logics for Caricature Generation: The Focus on Emotional Form
|
김성곤 Sung Kon Kim |
KJSES 12(1) 129-136, 2009 |
ABSTRACT
Unlike former researches, this study for developing the caricature generator began observing the methods that other caricature experts have adopted. According to the observation, it seemed that experts tried to exaggerate characteristics of the target shape from other similar objects. When we are saying "This is similar to that," we give salience to their difference among the identical form groups. This study was to find the most similar geometry form to the target shape and then to transform its form through exaggeration. The research scope was restricted to exaggerate the outline shape of two-dimensional looped curve as a caricature form. For this, the author discussed the following: (a) organization method of four kinds of similar geometry form database, (b) search method to find the pertinent similar geometry form, (c) arrangement method for those searched data, and (d) method to exaggerate the target shape. Human faces and cars were selected as research categories to make the database. According to the survey over the transformed results, it was proved its possibility.

KJSES 12(1) 137-144, 2009 |
ABSTRACT
This study aims to develop a 3D map which allows users to better understand the overall topography and to memorize the general concepts of the current location for tourists. The Map also utilizes different forms and color codes of the block units in the panoramic view. First, in preparation for making the road block unit, 28 types of roads presented in common map were defined. Based on the definitions, 12 dominant groups were formed. In designing each form, visual correlation was considered. Second, 42 types of terrain features presented in normal maps were defined for making the panoramic block unit. Then, 2 dominant groups, each contains 5 subgroups, were made according to the assemble pattern and the size of area. On the basis of the grouped units, the panoramic block units were produced with 3D pole line graphics maintaining integration. Lastly, each panoramic block units were categorized by color classes such as blue, green, gray and brown class. The overall color combination of the work was evaluated as well harmonized since the Moon&Spencer`s Aesthetic measure value exceeds 0.5.
