ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of emotional intelligence (EI) and goal-relevance in the relationship between power and emotional awareness. In Study 1, participants were ask to correctly indicate presented facial expressions of others after completing EI survey. Half of the participants were randomly assigned to the "power" condition and the other half to the "powerless" condition. In Study 2, goal-relevance of expressed emotion was manipulated. The results showed that EI moderated the relationship between power and emotion decoding ability. While participants with high and low levels of EI were not significantly affected by power condition, participants with middle level of EI were strongly influenced by the effect of power. In addition, the role of goal-relevance significantly moderated the relationship between power and emotional awareness. When correctly indicating other`s emotion became important and thus emotional awareness was strongly associated with participants` goal, those who had power performed better than before.

ABSTRACT
This study addresses the relationship between individual differences regarding self-concept, measured by Self Concept Clarity (SCC) scale and Relational-Interdependent Self-Construal and relationships (RISC) scale, and diverse affective consequences after choice behavior. We hypothesized that lower self-concept clarity and higher relational interdependence would be related to increased susceptibility to choice context-for example, how a choice set is constructed based on one`s initial preference. We examined how variations in a choice set can produce different affective consequences after making choices, and investigated the underlying neural mechanism using f MRI. In this experiment, participants first rated their preferences for art posters, and made a series of choices from a presented set. After the choice task, they completed post-choice measures including preferences for the chosen posters, as well as measures of their self-concept clarity and relational interdependence. Our behavioral results demonstrated that when participants faced more conflicting choice context, self-concept clarity was related to more positive affective consequences after choice, whereas relational interdependence was correlated with a lower second-rated attractiveness of the chosen option. The neuro imaging analysis of choice-making revealed that self-concept clarity and the degree of their relational interdependence served as modulators in shaping how one perceives and experiences the same decision-making process. These results have theoretical and practical importance in that it is one of the first studies investigating the influence of the individual differences regarding self-concept on value-based decision making process among diverse choice set contexts.

ABSTRACT
Common theories of affect underscore valence and arousal dimensions or specific emotion. However, given the role of affect in transacting social behavior, sociality may determine the subjective experience and interpersonal response to positive stimuli. The current study examined the relationships between social positive affect and perspective taking as well as positive coping. One potential moderating effect of agreeableness on these relations was also examined. In two experiments, film segments induced socially and non-socially generated positive affects. We hypothesized and found that positive affect associated with sociality would enhance perspective taking ability and positive coping, while non-social positive affect would not. Moreover, these effects varied as a function of the level of agreeableness. These findings suggest that the social/non-social dimension influenced which positive affects elicited perspective taking and positive coping, which could not be explained by differences in subjective emotional valence or arousal. Taken together, these findings have important implications, as they point toward a previously overlooked relation linking sociality to positive affect.

KJSES 16(4) 469-480, 2013 |
ABSTRACT
In this paper, we propose new method to reduce variance and express mixed feelings in Russell`s emotional dimension(A Circumplex model). A Circumplex model shows mean and variance of emotions (joy, sad, happy, enjoy et. al.) in PAD(Pleasure, Arousal, Dominace, et. al.) dimension using self-diagnostic method(SAM: Self-Assessment- Manikin). But other researchers consistently insisted that Russell`s model had two problems. First, data(emotional words) gathered by Russell`s method have too big variance. So, it is difficult to separate valid value. Second, Russell`s model can not properly represent mixed feelings because it has structural problem (It has a single Pleasure dimension). In order to solve these problems, we change survey methods, so that we reduce value of variance. And then we conduct survey (which can induce mixed feelings) to prove Positive/Negative (Pleasure) part in emotion and confirm that Russell`s model can be used to express mixed feelings. Using this method, we can obtain high reliability and accuracy of data and Russell`s model can be applied in many other fields such as bio-signal, mixed feelings, realistic broadcasting, et. al.

KJSES 16(4) 481-492, 2013 |
ABSTRACT
This study sorted scores of individual characteristics and multiple intelligence by sex, handle, blood type and age through previous questionnaire with 462 adult males and females. Then electrode was attached to prefrontal lobes Fp1 and Fp2 with EEG measuring system and changes of concentration between no stimulation state and pure pink noise stimulation and their relations to multiple intelligence were examined. As a result of analysis of covariance, the mean concentration of all subjects was significantly higher in the pink noise stimulation compared to no stimulation. According to individual characteristics, concentration was significantly higher in left-hander, type A blood, and group in their thirties except for gender. Concentration in pink noise state strengthened the relation to spatial intelligence and made negative correlations with musical intelligence compared to no stimulation state. These results suggested that individual characteristics should be reflected on using pink noise for improving concentration.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out the adjective scales, which will be used in the qualitative sensory evaluation of taste, by collecting and analyzing adjectives of expressing taste of Korean language. For the purpose, we rated the mutual similarities among selected 92 adjectives which include the sense of taste, texture, smell and temperature from foods, and then carried out factor analysis and clustering analysis by using correlation based on the similarities. According to the factor analysis there are more than 10 important factors involved in the linguistic representation of taste including food temperature, texture and smell as well as taste. Also, from the cluster analysis, we found that the adjectives can be clustered with groups of the adjectives representing general taste, negative taste, texture and temperature of food. In addition we analyzed the correlation between the adjectives to represent the generic preference of taste and the adjectives to express individual factors of the preferences that are resulted from cluster analysis. The analysis results could show that we need to restrict the type of foods to find out the meaningful limited number of sensory adjective scales for taste in the future.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze using RQA(Recurrence Quantification Analysis) about difference of electroencephalogram between inattention and attention among nonlinear methods for school age children who need attention. The experiments were conducted by 21 healthy subjects(12 males and 9 females). Inattention state is 500msec before the beginning of the auditory stimuli, attention state is 500msec after the beginning of auditory stimuli. The results of RQA parameters are greater in attention state than inattention state. It showed a statistically difference(p < 0.05). According to two states, auditory evoked potentials are displayed RP and CRP in diagram form to confirm nonlinear characteristics and The brain dynamics in the attention is more complex than the inattention. It is feasible that the RQA can be useful for the analysis of complex brain dynamics associated during auditory attention al task.

ABSTRACT
As the visual fatigue induced by 3D visual stimulation has raised some safety concerns in the industry, this study aims to quantify the visual fatigue through the means of measuring the facial temperature changes. Facial temperature was measured for one minute before and after watching a visual stimulus. Whether the visual fatigue has occurred was measured through subjective evaluations and high cognitive tasks. The difference in the changes that occurred after watching a 2D stimulus and a 3D stimulus was computed in order to associate the facial temperature changes and the visual fatigue induced by watching 3D contents. The results showed significant differences in the subjective evaluations and in the high cognitive tasks. Also, the ERP latency increased after watching 3D stimuli. There were significant differences in the maximum value of the temperature at the forehead and at the tip of the nose. A previous study showed that 3D visual fatigue activates the sympathetic nervous system. Activation of the sympathetic nervous system is known to increase the heart rate as well as the blood flow into the face through the carotid arteries system. When watching 2D or 3D stimuli, the sympathetic nervous system activation dictates the blood flow, which then influences the facial temperature. This study is meaningful in that it is one of the first investigations that looks into the possibility to measure 3D visual fatigue with thermal images.

ABSTRACT
This paper reports on flexible plastic optical fiber (POF) fabric displays which are used to develop light-emitting clothing from photonic fabric. We first evaluated the luminescence value corresponding to different methods of processing flexible optical fibers, types of reflective fabric structure, and colors of the light. Moreover, we tried to identify the optimum conditions of the flexible POF fabric displays to realize high luminescence value. The processing methods that were compared were the "Pre-etching" method and the "Post-etching" method. On the basis of the reflective structure of the fabric, the fabrics were categorized as the "White fabric" and the "Reflective fabric." Analysis results showed that the effect of the processing method is more dominant than that of the types of reflective fabric structure. Further, the capability of the Post-etching method to increase luminescence value is slightly higher than that of the Pre-etching method. Further, the ``Reflective fabric`` is slightly more efficacious as the base fabric to increase the luminescence value, than the White fabric is. Thus, optimum increase in luminance can be realized by employing the Post-etching method and the Reflective fabric as the base fabric.

KJSES 16(4) 527-534, 2013 |
ABSTRACT
In this study, we analyzed spatial-frequency relationship related brain function for change of the time during attention al visual stimulus through the analysis of Coherence. With experimentation about ERP(Event Related Potential)data, it revealed that change of the phase synchronization between different scalp locations at band. ERP between left and right frontal lobes, between the frontal and central lobes showed the phase synchronization at the P100, N200, ERP between the frontal and occipital lobes showed the phase synchronization at the P300 related information of visual stimulus. Compared to STFT using the window of a fixed length, CWT is able to multi-resolution analysis with the adjustment of parameters of mother wavelet. Thus, coherence results with CWT was found to be effective for analysis of time-varying spatial-frequency relationship in ERP. The phase synchronization for inattention al visual stimulus was not observed.
